iPos - A real-time retail payment solution!
iPos (and integrated point of sale) can be installed on any POS (Point of Sale, Till, Cash Register) server or a centralised server can be established. A POS will post the transactional information to iPOS which will determine the transaction type and request for Pin from the Pin Pad in the event that the transaction is a debit card. iPos will then format the message and send it to the MyGate Payment Platform for processing. Multiple communication methods can be established in the event of failover.
PIN PAD
iPos interfaces with both EFT and EMV Pin Pads. Generally, the acquiring bank will have a preferred PIN PAD that they have certified beforehand. Our interface has been designed to easily incorporate itself into the workings of any banks PIN PAD.
Point of Sale (POS)
iPos exposes an API that any Point of Sale can interface with. Alternatively, iPos can also incorporate the specification integration of a Point of Sale device. The POS can post and receive data relating to the sale enabling a seamless card transaction. The transaction amount is not required to be entered on a separate device eliminating data entering errors. A POS can also post through any information required for Value Added Services, Gift Card or Loyalty Card transactions.
Standalone Device
In some cases, a retailer may require a standalone speed point device to integrate to MyGate's Payment Platform. MyGate's Payment Platform communicates directly with a standalone device.
Communication Methods
The preferred communication method is for iPos to communicate from a WAN. In the event that this is not possible, communication methods such as ADSL and GPRS can be established. iPos can run over any method of communication, but of course, transmission speeds will vary widely depending on the speed of the chosen communication method. It is recommended that multiple communication methods be provisioned for the iPos system in the event that failover is required.
